THE FIRST HALF
Things started slowly for the Wirral Chinese and after a cagey start we inevitably lost the lead to a defensive error. But once we began to take control of the game it took only 5 minutes to equalise. A defensive header from a corner bounced down to Chung to rifle towards the top corner. The superb shot was well saved by their keeper only to be neatly slotted home by Mike Scott, who nutmeged the goalie. Chris Allen was then taken off injured when he was kicked in the foot by a Young Lion’s midfielder. He was unable to continue and K.Y came on to slot in at right back. Ian then moved into central midfield. The sides walked in 1-1 at half time and the Wirral Chinese grew in confidence.

THE SECOND HALF
A seemingly decent challenge from Chung was penalised and offered Young Lions a direct free kick. Mike Quek organised the wall well enough but his positioning was poor and the Young Lions forward crept in a tame shot right down the centre. After not performing at all in the match so far, Mike Yee was cleverly put through by Mike Scott. The defender chasing him fell and appealed for a foul but it didn’t stop Mike from hitting the ball right into the left top corner, in off the post. Ste Barrow came on to replace Sean in the left back position and coped very well, although he was elbowed in the face in a dirty challenge. But in the last minute a lapse in concentration allowed a ‘Lions forward to sneak through and score the winner.

OVERALL
After a great team performance, Ian Chan was awarded with the Man Of The Match award. He ran everywhere and never gave up. As usual, the defence played very well as so did the midfield.
